All graphic design and website build is done inhouse – so we won’t take on your project and outsource it to someone else.*
We aim to make work enjoyable as well as effective, and we genuinely enjoy working with our clients.
Amanda Carroll, Creative Director
Amanda runs the majority of projects for Studio Beam; and designs logos, websites and printed materials from bookmarks to books to display boards.
As Design Manager at Heinemann International, Amanda coordinated and produced educational book design for Irish, sub-Saharan African and Caribbean schools. She was also designer at Mencap for external and internal communications, including for those with learning disabilities.
Her few years out of university were at Dorling Kindersley publishers. So she’s very used to working with editors and authors and can help with the planning stage of projects and brainstorming.
Amanda has a BA (Hons) Graphic Design, and is also a trained and experienced TEFL teacher, copywriter and copy editor. She’ll often take on editing, copywriting and picture research as part of a project, whether for a brochure, interpretation board or website.
Robert Craig, Project and Technical Consultant
Rob’s specialities are online design and development, bespoke coding, troubleshooting and usability. Having studied originally as an illustrator he can still do a mean doodle too. This together with postgraduate studies in usability and a wealth of experience makes him a creative thinker and troubleshooter.
He also works on a contract as head of digital for a hedge fund business, and a fairtrade online store.
Rob’s worked with dozens of small businesses and not-for-profits over the last twenty years, as well as large organisations. These include Dorling Kindersley, Taylor Wimpey, Friends of the Earth, AXA, Legal & General and British Airways.
• On occasion we may work alongside companies or individuals for additional services only such as large editing or proofreading projects, video production, social media campaigns, pay-per-click advertising strategy or a specific type of illustration. If this is the case you’ll be fully informed.
Thank you so much for your hard work on this project. You have done a first-class job and we are so grateful.
Bloomsbury Children's Books
This is diligently done. I realised you even took the trouble to search for the stubborn words that did not want to get into the index. The text files and cover are fantastic!
Ivor Agyeman-Duah, author
I have uploaded the food and drink destination guides on to Visit Chilterns. They are looking so great. Huge thanks for your work on this.
Annette Venters, Chilterns Conservation Board

Alison Phillips, Sustainable Chesham
Just had a look at the website and it’s fantastic!! I really appreciate how much thought you’ve put into organising the material. It comes across really clearly and logically. I really like the logo and the colour scheme and the layout. And the little touches like colourful tables for the fees!
Ben Colyer Osteopath
Amanda worked with me on the Runnymede publication 'Nurturing the Nation: The Asian Contribution to the NHS since 1948', ensuring the work was conducted professionally and to a high standard. Amanda was also a pleasure to work with, responding promptly to all queries and taking an open, friendly approach both with myself as author and the copy editors.
Debbie Weekes-Bernard, author in association with Runnymede Trust
We couldn’t have chosen a better person to design our Family Guide. Amanda was endlessly helpful, constructive, full of creative ideas and inspiration ... not only a success but also something which would really meet our specific requirements.
Chiltern Open Air Museum

Hungry Caterpillar Day Nurseries
Amanda was both interested and helpful in meeting the needs of my business and created an excellent and apt logo for my company. Her advice on content for company literature was invaluable and created a product with great visual impact.
Nazma Khan, Chiltern Natural Therapies
It’s simple, I use Studio Beam because they understand my business and its needs. The message I want to put out there will end up on the banner, the leaflet or the website in a way that ‘our’ users understand. Value for money is what keeps me with Studio Beam.
